Car Rider Procedures

Chattahoochee Elementary Car Rider Procedures

It is our highest priority to ensure students' safety as they enter and exit vehicles and to provide a safe and efficient car line. Thank you for adhering to these procedures to help keep our students safe.

CHA Car Line Procedures

DROPPING OFF (MORNING):

  • School personnel will be ready to receive your child from the car rider line at 7:10 am. Do not drop off your child prior to this time, as there will be no supervision.
  • Begin forming the car line at the “Car Line Starts Here” sign, located at the curb before the handicapped parking spaces.
  • Have your child ready to exit the car as you pull up to the unloading zone (e.g., papers/folders inside backpack, food put away, seat belts unbuckled).
  • Pull your car as far forward as traffic allows without leaving large gaps between vehicles.
  • Please have your child open and close his/her own car door in order to keep the car line moving safely and efficiently.  Do not exit the car yourself to help your child exit.
  • All students must exit vehicles from the passenger side only.
  • All students in the front car line will enter the building through the main doors.
  • Follow all signage and traffic directions from staff

Before Bus Lane Clears

After Bus Lane Clears

  • Left and right lanes merge at crosswalk, proceed around to front entrance
  • Left (inside) lane makes U-Turn at crosswalk and proceeds to front entrance
  • Right (outside) lane proceeds straight and is directed to bus lane entrance
  • The tardy bell rings at 7:40 am (rain or shine). If your child is tardy, you must accompany him/her inside the school building to be signed-in.  Please plan to come early if the weather is bad.

PICKING UP (AFTERNOON):

  • Help your child memorize his/her assigned car rider number.
  • Be sure your car tag is visible at all times while in the car line.
  • Pull your vehicle as far forward as traffic allows without leaving large gaps between vehicles.
  • Remain in the line and do not attempt to pull around other vehicles.
  • Encourage your child to open and close his/her own car door in order to keep the car line moving safely and efficiently.
  • Students must wait for vehicles to come to a complete stop before loading.
  • All students must enter vehicles from the passenger side only.
  • Pull forward to the orange cone for assistance or if your student needs assistance with a seatbelt.

FYI -- Parents may not check-out students after 2:00 p.m.

General Precautions:

  • Pay attention to all traffic signs and directions given by staff.
  • Cell phone usage is not permitted in the state of Georgia while driving
  • Do not pass other cars while in the car rider line (unless directed by a staff member).
  • Always remember to have your school-issued car rider tag.  Without an WHITE tag, you must park, come inside, and show your identification to pick-up your child.
