Kelso's Choices

Kelso's Choice is a program that empowers and enables children to successfully and safely solve conflict.
Conflict or disagreement is normal and often happens when children get together. However, hurtful words, gestures, or physical attacks are unacceptable ways to deal with conflict. At Chattahoochee, we use the Kelso’s Choice program to teach students positive strategies to deal with difficult situations.
To do this, we teach students to differentiate between small problems that they can try to solve on their own, and big problems that need a trusted adult's help. When students have small problems we encourage them to try at least two of the ideas from the wheel of choices (see below) before asking for adult help.

The strategies listed on the wheel are:
- Wait and Cool Off
- Go to Another Game
- Talk It Out
- Share and Take Turns
- Ignore It
- Walk Away
- Tell Them to Stop
- Apologize
- Make a Deal
